If she could change something in the world today, it would be to stop abortion because she does not like that people take innocent lives. She feels that her greatest accomplishment so far in life will be coming up in May when she graduates from LAMS. She admires her older siblings because they set a great Christian example in her life.

Alicia Zimmerman
6th grade
Alicia Zimmerman is currently a 6th grader at Lititz Area Mennonite School. The reason Alicia likes school is for all the caring people and teachers. Her favorite class is Bible. She likes this class because Miss LeFever reads to them, and because she enjoys the Bible in general. Come spring Alicia will be participating in the girl’s soccer team. After Alicia graduates, she is planning on going to Warwick Public High School. Alicia enjoys watching TV, playing board games, and reading in her spare time. Alicia and her family attend Cedar Hill Church. Some of Alicia’s hobbies are reading, playing soccer, and talking with friends. If Alicia would be able to change something in this world, she would make it that people wouldn’t be mean, because God wants us to be kind and caring. Alicia feels that the greatest accomplishment in her life has been to always be kind to people. The two people Alicia admires are Trisha Miller, (a student at LAMS), and her sister Laura. She admires Trisha, because Trisha helps her a lot. She admires her sister because Laura is always trying her best and is very strong in her Christian faith. Joelle Hickey

Joelle Hickey is a 6th grader at Lititz Area Mennonite School. The one thing she enjoys most about school is hanging out with her friends. Joelle's least favorite subject is math, but her favorite subject is science because of all the experiments she gets to do. Joelle has participated in the volleyball team at school, and is also participating in the spring drama, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She plans to go to Warwick School District after she leaves LAMS. Joelle likes to read, sing, take pictures of nature, make cards and email her friends in her spare time. Her favorite book series are Nancy Drew, and Left Behind: The Kids by Jerry B. Jenkins. Joelle goes to Calvary Church, and is involved in King's Kids group and the hand bell choir. She believes her greatest accomplishment in life so far is being able to sing a solo in front of the whole congregation at her church. "Our church has a lot of people in it, and it's kind of scary to go up on stage by myself," says Joelle. Her role model is her older sister "... because she's good at a lot of things. She's a good singer, she's a leader, and she lets me be with her when she's with her friends." If Joelle were to change something in the world today, she would make sure every orphan had a family to love them.

Michael Dueck
7th grade
Michael Dueck is a seventh grader at Lititz Area Mennonite School. He is known for having a good sense of humor and interacting well with others. The things he likes the most about LAMS are the good friends, kind teachers, and the Godly atmos-phere. His favorite subject is Social Studies because of the fun teacher who makes sure his students learn a lot.

Michael enjoys doing many extracurricular activities including basketball, Bible quizzing, choir, orchestra, and any upcoming sports this year. When Michael graduates from LAMS he hopes to go to Cocalico High school and play any high school sports available. A few of his favorite hobbies include playing sports, drawing, writing stories, and playing airsoft with his older brother David.

Michael plays for Berks County Baseball league and Cocalico football. He even has a football field in his backyard. Michael and his family go the Blue Ball Church of the Brethren where he is involved in the Blue Ball youth group. In his free time, Michael learns all he can about sports and also enjoys woodworking.

If he could change any one thing in the world, Michael would make sure that everyone could hear the good news about Jesus Christ and have the choice to believe. If you were to ask him, Michael would tell you that his greatest achievement was winning the Sportsmanship award in the Berks County Baseball League.

The person the Michael admires the most is Abraham Lincoln. Why? He was a Christian president that led his country through the American Civil War. He stopped slavery in the U.S. and was a great example to leaders and also to students like Michael Dueck.

Sasha Carpenter
7th grade
Sasha Carpenter is in seventh grade at Lititz Area Mennonite School. Her favorite subject is Social Studies because she likes the teacher, Mr. Siegrist, and it is a fun class.

Sasha plans on participating in the Mennonite schools’ speech meet and the LAMS drama. She also swims on a swim team outside of school. She will go to Cedar Crest High School after LAMS. She attends Calvary Chapel of Lebanon.

Sasha’s hobbies are reading, writing, singing, and acting. She enjoys inventing stories and acting them out in her room during her spare time.

If she could change something in the world today, Sasha would change how people with disabilities are treated. Some people are prejudice against disabled people or think they aren’t very smart.

Sasha has cerebral palsy and wants to be treated just like everyone else. She doesn’t want to be treated like she isn’t normal, and doesn’t think others deserve that treatment either.

Sasha’s greatest accomplishment so far in life is being able to walk. Her doctors said she would never be able to walk and would always be in a wheelchair. Because of her determination and hard work, Sasha has proved them wrong.

Her role model is Jessica Long. Long was born in Russia - just like Sasha was. Both of Long’s legs were amputated because so many of the bones were missing from them when she was born. Once she entered and won nine events at a para-olympic swimming event. When Sasha feels like complaining about her own struggles, she reminds herself of Long. Sasha tells herself that if Long could accomplish those feats, she can get past her struggles too. Perhaps a common thing that drives both Sasha and Long is their faith in Jesus Christ.

He also likes to sit down to a good book. Austin and his family attend Metzler Mennonite Church.
