“Hunger Is Not A Game” At Cocalico

Cocalico Middle School students know that hunger is not a game. During the month of November, the library was accepting non-perishable food items in place of fines. In addition, students without library fines who donated food items had their names entered in a drawing to win two free IMAX tickets to “Catching Fire.” A local movie theatre generously supported the food drive by donating the tickets as well as a t-shirt, poster, lanyard and necklace. Coordinated by Mrs. Susan Snyder and Mrs. Renee Farlow, a “reaping” was held in the Middle School library on Monday, November 25. Saren Williams was the lucky recipient of the IMAX tickets. Other winners included Codey Van Volkenburg, Kellie Gerhart, Max Holmes and Ashanti Duncan. The donated food items will be given to Cocalico Power Packs and Ephrata Area Social Services.
