Ephrata East End Mart Celebrates 50 Years In Business
(Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese)
It is no small feat that a local family-owned store, Ephrata East End Mart, has been in business for the last 50 years. What sets them apart from other stores is that they offer “old-fashioned service” with great customer service and extensive product knowledge. When you shop at Ephrata East End Mart, you are not just a sale. They take the time to get to know you and they value their relationship with you. Owners, Paul Burkholder, Rhoda Burkholder and Orpha Burkholder have come to realize the importance of these relationships. “We appreciate the local customer base we have been blessed with for 50 years. This was evident during the time of loss of a family member and owner, Virgie Hurst. The prayers and support for our business from all the customers made us realize how important the relationship in business with customers can be and how much of an impact it can have.”
Ephrata East End Mart has been family owned and operated since its humble beginnings as a traveling housewares, hardware and paint operation. David H. Burkholder took his product across Lancaster and its surrounding counties in his stepvan.
On May 12, 1966, the Burkholder family opened the retail storefront at 711 East Main Street, Ephrata. Today, 50 years later, David’s children, Paul, Rhoda and Orpha own and operate the growing business. They are proud to be a member of the Ephrata community and strive to be the best hardware and home decorating store that you will ever find.
Though they are often referred to being “the Ladder Store” along 322, they are so much more. They are a paint, ladder and hardware store that features Valspar paints, Werner ladders, wallpaper and so much more. Did you know Ephrata East End Mart is one of the largest quoit dealers in Lancaster County? They can help even the newest player gain skill and precision with their range of brass, bronze and steel quoits.
They are also your home project headquarters. They carry many useful hardware items, electrical supplies, tools, plumbing, lawn and garden and more. They are able to special order most items. If you have questions, they have answers! Whether it’s putting colors together to decorate a room, new screens or glass or just duplicating a key, you’ll see the advantages to patronizing a family-owned business. Their motto is “Here to Serve.”
Stop by and congratulate them for 50 successful years in business!
