The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) selected Fulton Elementary School to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2014-2015 school year. Only 177 schools throughout the Commonwealth have been selected for participation.

Fulton students will be given the opportunity to taste a variety of locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables three times per week. Samples, including local plums, watermelon and yellow squash, will be taken into the classroom. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program kicked off with an assembly.

PDE based its selection on elementary schools that have demonstrated strong potential to administer the FFVP according to the guidelines provided by the United States Department of Agriculture. The program will reach over 84,000 Pennsylvania children.

Shown are students enjoying a program on healthy eating and a sample pack is being brought out for the first time.
