Reinholds Chapel Summer Arts Festival

(Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese)

The Reinholds Union Sunday School was built in 1898 for religious education and as a meeting place for the community, and was active until 1984. The Reinholds Trinity Chapel Preservation Committee was formed in 1987 to preserve this historic landmark. As part of these efforts, the committee will be holding its annual summer Festival, featuring traditional folk art, quality crafts, paintings, baked goods and good food served by the Schoeneck Lions Club. There will also be a raffle of donated craft items. This event will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel, which is located along Route 897 in Reinholds. Admission to the festival is free. Shown in the photo are some of the participants (left to right): Seated: Richard Getz (chair caning) and Walter Gottshall (wood carving). Standing: Barbara Strawser (folk painting), Gail Burkholder (wool rugs), Janet Fasnacht (hand spun yarn), Sam Shoemaker (redware) and Helen Reinhold Gordon (paintings). Other participants include: Lisa Paradis (seaglass), Doug Shaw (wood carving), Ellen Pyle (weaver), Bea Weidner and Marcelle Morak (cookie sculpture, cards and prints), Patricia Lausch (reverse painting on glass), Mike Brown (papier-mache and chalkware) and Sandra Heisey (handmade baskets).
