Hershey Gardens and AMES are proud to sponsor a Student Garden Design Scholarship Competition to students in grades 10 to 12 from 12 surrounding counties. This year’s theme is the Butterfly Garden. The goal is to provide an educational and career development competitive exercise for students interested in gardening, horticulture, landscape architecture, the arts, and the development of public garden as a community resource.

Two students from Ephrata Mennonite School, Adriann Zim-merman and Jennika Zimmerman, placed first and third respectively in this year’s competition. Winning first place, Adriann will have the privilege of working alongside the Hershey garden staff to install her garden design in the Children’s Garden at Hershey Gardens. Adriann’s garden will be able to be viewed by visitors now until late October. AMES gardening tools will also be provided to the school because of Adriann’s efforts. Jennika Zimmerman won third place for her Butterfly Paradise design.
