The 11th Annual Adamstown Community Days celebration will be held over Memorial Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 24, 25 and 26. All events will take place in Adamstown’s community grove, adjacent to the community swimming pool on West Main Street in the borough.

The days will be filled with food, live entertainment, carnival rides and games for children and adults. Activities on Friday will take place between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

There is no charge for admission, and ample free parking is available along the street and on the baseball field above the grove.

Food vendors will be serving up all types of food including hamburgers, hot dogs, beef sandwiches, ice cream and strawberry shortcake, many of which are prepared and served by local non-profit organizations. A reasonably-priced dinner will be served each day at the newly-renovated pavilion.

The Adamstown Community Days committee will have a pig roast, served with potato salad and baked beans, on Friday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. Immanuel E.C. Church will provide the meal on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Adamstown Rod & Gun Club will be serving their famous trout chowder and chicken barbecue dinners at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Bring your chairs to enjoy professional entertainment, at no charge, each evening under the big tent. The Uptown Band with Erich Cawalla and Jenifer Kinder will be the featured performers on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Poets, an oldies band from Scranton, will be putting on a show on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, Conlan Kerschner, a young banjo player from Adamstown, will provide entertainment beginning at 6:15 p.m., followed by local favorite Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods at 7:00 p.m.

Other entertainment will be Sneakers the clown for the children, and karaoke with Josh Levingood. The Cocalico Cruisers Car Club will have their classic cars on display Friday evening, and a community worship service will be held Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The entire schedule for the three-day event is available online at www.adamstowncommunitydays.com or there are cards listing the hours of operation and an event schedule available at many of the local merchants and businesses.

Carnival rides will be operating all three days, with special wristbands at a cost valid for unlimited rides, available on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

As always, the grand finale of the weekend will have families coming from miles around. The 10,000 rocket fireworks show has always been one of the best displays in the area. People begin staking out their spots early in the evening for the fireworks show that begins at 10:00 p.m. The rain date for the fireworks is Monday at 9:00 p.m.

Shown in the photo are Joe Dietrich, Jessica Kelly and Judy Dengler.
