Adamstown Days Celebration

Adamstown Community Days will be held over Memorial Day weekend, Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24 at Adamstown’s community park, adjacent to the community swimming pool along Route 272. The 13th annual celebration is well known throughout the area for the festival’s finale - a 10,000 rocket fireworks show by D&M Fireworks.
“Every year we try to add something a little better or unique to the fireworks program,” said Joe Dietrich, ACD chairman.
In addition to the fireworks, festival-goers can enjoy a free show each evening under a huge circus tent. Audience members are invited to bring their own chairs or take advantage of the opportunity to sit in one of the front rows by reserving a chair for a cost.
“We’re already getting checks for those reserved seats,” said Die-trich, “particularly for Saturday night’s group, ‘Lights Out.’” Dietrich said ‘Lights Out’ is a fantastic tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. “They do a non-stop, 90-minute show,” Dietrich said, “and people are just amazed at their talent. They were here last year, and people were asking me after their show to please book them again for 2015.”
Friday night’s entertainment is The Uptown Band with Erich Cawalla and Jenifer Kinder, presenting a blend of contemporary music. From their first note on Sunday evening, Flamin’ Dick and The Hot Rods will have the audience up and dancing.
For more information regarding reserved seats for the shows, call Dietrich at 484-256-0851.
Naturally, there will be plenty of food available through the weekend. Commercial vendors and local organizations will be serving up almost every kind of food imaginable. A community non-profit will serve a complete dinner each evening. The Adamstown Rod and Gun Club has been serving its famous trout chowder and chicken barbecue since the first celebration in 2003. Ample seating is available under a covered pavilion.
There will be games and carnival rides as well as free artistic face painting, a magic show and karaoke. There is no admission or parking charge. Dietrich said the fireworks are the highlight of the weekend and suggests checking the website, www.adamstowncommunitydays.com for an update if the weather looks threatening on Sunday.
