Diane Kay Musselman, 77, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at her residence in Lancaster City. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Sara E. Burkholder Musselman. She was a graduate of Ephrata High School.
Diane lived a life rooted in care for animals, for family, and for her faith. She had a long love of sheep, caring for and showing the Musselman Hampshires and helping the Hampshire Sheep Association mark its 100th anniversary at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, a devotion to the flock that reflected a deeper devotion to her Lord, the Shepherd.
A fiber artist working in wool, Diane created felted pieces that were shown and sold at Landis Valley Farm Museum. She also worked as an emergency room receptionist at Ephrata Hospital.
That same instinct for care showed up wherever she went. She worked with animal shelters and veterinarians in Pennsylvania and in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, giving her time and energy to animals who needed someone in their corner.
When her brother Glenn lost his wife, Cathy Ziegler Musselman, Diane stepped in to help him and his family navigate the years that followed, an expression of quiet, enduring care that defined her life.
Psalm 23 was her guiding light: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Diane is survived by her brother, Glenn Musselman of Lancaster; her brother-in-law, Thomas Rapchinski of Ephrata; and seven nieces: Francis Musselman, Emily Deakin, Lisa Kirchner, Kathleen Norris, Pamela Miller, Christine Springer, and Angela Browning. She is also survived by grandnephews, Mark Miller, Aaron Springer, and Christian Springer, and grandnieces Erika Norris, Evelyn Norris, Margot Browning, and Josie Browning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dawn Rapchinski, and her brother, Clay Musselman.
Interment will take place in a private family ceremony at Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.
