Evelyn Beatrice (Bashe) Napolin, 104, formerly of Long Island, NY, died on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital, in Ephrata. Evelyn spent her early life in New Hartford, CT, and was the daughter of the late Philip and Dora (Peizer) Bashe. She was the beloved wife of the late David Napolin, to whom she was married for 65 years.

Evelyn spent most of her married life in Williston Park, NY. Though her family’s roots were Jewish, she later joined the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, and lived for many years in their senior apartments in Port Washington, NY, before moving to her daughter’s home in Ephrata in 2020.

Evelyn trained and worked as a dental hygienist. Later, she proudly obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the City University of New York, Queens College, and started work on her Master’s degree. Another of her accomplishments was the twenty years she spent as a volunteer Program Director for Retired Executives and Professionals (REAP), for which she obtained high-quality weekly programming in a wide range of fields for the many REAP members.

Evelyn loved current events, politics, literature, health and nutrition topics, and was an avid reader. She read the New York Times daily, and was a fan of Chris Cuomo’s and Don Lemon’s news programs, among other TV news shows. She traveled widely with her husband, and they visited many countries together.

Evelyn had an outgoing and kind personality, and was loved and will be missed by many. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia Barconey of Ephrata, PA, and Donald (Laurie) Napolin of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren, Leila Barconey, Bronx, NY; Michael (Kathryn) Napolin, Middletown, DE; Elizabeth (Patrick) Guthrie, Wilmington, DE; Amy (William) Courtney, Wilmington, DE; and Christina Napolin, Philadephia, PA. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Romare Barconey-Watson; Christopher, Liliana, and Kyle Napolin; Luke and Samuel Guthrie; and William and Hazel Courtney. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold Bashe and Robert Bashe.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
