Ida Y. Jones, 85, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Moravian Manor, Lititz. Born in Nanty Glo, Pa., Ida was a daughter of the late James E. and Cora Belle (Wilson) Fuller and the devoted wife to Jack Jones for over 64 years, until his passing in April of this year.
Ida grew up in the Johnstown area, a graduate of Nanty Glo High School, and later moved to Lancaster County for work. Ida and Jack were high school sweethearts; they married and started their family in Ephrata. She worked for Dutch Maid Inc. in Office administrations for many years and then worked for Redner’s in Ephrata for over 15 years as parttime work in her retirement. Ida was a faithful member of New Covenant Church of God in Ephrata where she was the Church Treasurer for a long time, taught Sunday school, and each year made peanut butter eggs for the Easter fundraiser. She enjoyed baking and made the best pumpkin rolls. Ida loved drinking coffee, she would heat up her coffee and drink it all day. She was frugal and had a knack to repurpose things that others would consider waste. ‘Nana’ was her name to the great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She was always supportive of the grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events, going to watch them play local soccer, baseball, and football. She loved her ice cream Diet Coke floats; those were her favorite treats. She enjoyed playing board games of all kinds with anyone who would play, particularly with her sister, Sharon. She valued traditions such as family together for holidays and New Years Eve sauerkraut and kielbasa sandwiches. She was always honest, almost to a fault. Ida was high spirited and grounded in her values and will forever be remembered for her endless love of family and faith.
Ida is survived by three children, Connie Peters (Scott) of Ephrata, Jack Jones Jr (Tena) of Ephrata; Gary Jones (Donna) of Akron; four grandchildren, Jackie Yohn (Dan), Jodee Berry (Nick), Robert Jones (Alyssa), Tom Hess (Monica); 14 great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Hess of Kutztown and sister-in-law, Betty Grant of Belsano. In addition to her husband and parents, Ida was predeceased by eight siblings, Evelyn, Thelma, Gloria, Dot, Twila, Jim, Gary, and infant sister, Barbara.
