It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Lucy J. Shimp, 93, of Ephrata (formerly of Denver). Lucy went to Heaven on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at The Gardens at Stevens.

She was born in Reinholds to the late Charles, Sr. and Katherine B. (Snyder) Weidman. She was the wife of the late John L. Shimp Jr., who passed away in 1995.

Lucy was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Denver where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed raising her family, listening to country music, playing piano, and helping others. She was deeply involved in the sporting and musical events of her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Lucy is survived by three daughters: Colleen Ober­holtzer; Vivian Moyer (married to Richard); and Pamela McCoy; three grandchildren, Jason Ober­holtzer, Jamie Copeland, and Trisha Walsh; and four great-grandchildren, Joslyn and Olivia Copeland, and Noelle and Avery Oberholtzer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, Charles Weidman, Jr., Mary Moyer and Kathryn Goshert; stepmother Lillian (Moyer) Weidman and two step-brothers, Harold Moyer and Frederick Weidman; and two sons-in-law, Dean Oberholtzer and Dennis McCoy.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church 420 Main Street, Denver.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lucy’s memory to Trinity United Methodist Church (420 Main St., Denver, PA 17517) or Serenity Hospice Care LLC (3331 Street Rd., Suite 101, Bensalem, PA 19020).
