Paul R. Shober

Paul R. Shober, aged 100, of Ephrata, passed away on April 23, 2021 at Maple Farm in Akron, PA. The son of the late James L. and Elsie G. (Musser) Shober, he was born on March 9, 1921 in Denver, PA. He was the sixth of ten children.

Paul was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, an active member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church (served on the cemetery grounds committee), a lifelong member of Cocalico Valley VFW Post 3376 in Ephrata, and father of four children. He was previously employed by A. H. Hummer and W. W. Moyer. Plumbing was his life and said he never had a bad day. He loved to play cards, croquette, and golf.

He is survived by daughters, Joyce Ballard of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeanette (Harvey) Burkholder of Ephrata, Mary (Raymond) Groff of Lititz, and son, Michael (Judy) Shober of Ephrata; and a brother, James L. (Joyce) Shober, Jr. of Stevens. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters (Naomi Demming, Kathryn Leid, Minerva Fry, Bette Teele, Dorothy Shealer), and three brothers (Ellis, Lester, and Clair).

A private graveside funeral was held at Muddy Creek Cemetery in Denver, PA.
