Viola Balenzano

Viola Balenzano, born June 5, 1928, in Groffdale, PA, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late John A. Batsch and Anna M. Huyard Batsch. Viola was one of five children, having two sisters, Jennie Batsch Leinbach and Clara Batsch, and two brothers, John Batsch and Philip Batsch. She attended a Mennonite school in Lancaster County, PA, until eighth grade.

Viola married the late Guy Franklin Balenzano from Middletown, PA, on April 20, 1957. They were married for 57 years. She is survived by her son, H. Mike Frymyer, and four grandkids: Jerome Frymyer, Haley McGuigan, Molly McGuigan, and Samantha Thomason.

In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Debra McGuigan.

She held several jobs throughout her 94 years of life, helping on the farm when she was a young girl, working in a sewing factory, waiting tables at diners and the Green Dragon Market in Ephrata, PA, and working part-time at Weary’s Transportation Co. and at Boyd Transportation as a bus aide for IU-13 students. Her favorite job was being the best grandmother around. She always had sass to give and will be missed greatly.

A private service will be held at the Pinnacle Overlook in Holtwood, PA.
