Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend
Gary Allen Henly, 71, passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at home with his family by his side.

Gary was born May 11, 1950 in Ephrata, the son of Rachel (Lichty) and George Henly. Gary grew up in Adamstown, PA with his brother, loving fishing, hunting and all things outdoors. Gary graduated from Wilson High School in 1969. He later joined the United States National Guard and proudly served from 1971-1977.

Gary married Lorraine (Bucher) Henly on December 22, 1973 and they would celebrate their 48-year anniversary this month. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. Gary and Lorraine had recently moved to Millsboro, Delaware to retire and enjoy life on the water, which he loved so much.
Gary worked as a machinist at Troutman’s Machine Shop in Sinking Springs, PA for 50+ years. He was known by his colleagues as a kind, hardworking and selfless friend.

Gary was a man of great faith and an active member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Ephrata, PA. Gary taught kindergarten Sunday school for 32 years and participated in many bible study groups. Other passions included fishing, clamming, hunting, boating and he always had a loyal pet by his side. Gary was happiest when surrounded by friends and family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his children: Jennifer (Mark) Witmer, James (Cathleen) Henly, Janelle (Tony) Dimoulas, Tanya Henly, and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded by in death by his mother (Rachel), father (George), brother (Fred), and his son (Robert).

Gary will especially be remembered for his beautiful smile, warm heart, genuine compassion for others and belief that faith and family matter most.

Memorial services will be held at Ephrata Bible Fellowship Church (491 Peach Rd., Ephrata, PA) on Thursday, December 16th. There is a 6:00 p.m. visitation and 7:00 p.m. service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
