Carl L. Martin, 87, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his residence.
He was born in Union Grove to the late Henry W. and Mary V. (Hurst) Martin and was the loving husband of Lena (Nolt) Martin for 66 years.
Carl worked as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, where he served as trustee for many years.
Carl is survived by eight children: Wilmer, husband of Nancy Martin of Stevens; Nevin, husband of Erma Martin of Moravia, NY; Glenn, husband of Rose Ann Martin of Elliotsburg; Galen, husband of Janice Martin of East Earl; Marian, wife of Kenneth Zimmerman of Sandusky, MI; DuWayne Martin of Ephrata; Dwight, husband of Charlene Martin of Moravia, NY; and Wilford, husband of Kristine Martin of Ephrata; 50 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; six siblings: Lorraine, wife of Luke Weaver of Myerstown; Lewis, husband of Marilyn Martin of Millmont; Lucille, wife of Wayne Rohrer of Mercersburg; Paul, husband of Marian Martin of Ephrata; Earl, husband of Joyce Martin of Mohnton; and Ellen, wife of Melvin Burkholder of Cambridge Springs; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Nolt of New Holland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Martin; two sisters, Arlene, wife of the late Jacob Good, Mildred Nolt; a granddaughter, Laura Martin and three great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at Midway Mennonite Reception Center, 210 E. Lexington Road, Lititz. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 8:45 at Midway Mennonite Reception Center, with further services at 9:30 AM, from Springville Mennonite Church, 580 Springville Road, Ephrata, with Bishop Melvin Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
