Goldie M. Tothero, 97, formerly of Adamstown, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Fairmount Homes of Ephrata. Born in Adamstown, Goldie was the daughter of the late Howard and Mazie (Kramer) Demming and the loving wife of 55 years to Lloyd C. Tothero, until his passing in 2002.

Goldie was devoted to her family and community. She was a den mother to the cub scouts, chaperone of the YMCA dances, and a leader of the Luther-league at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she also helped make church dinners and taught Sunday school for over 50 years. For many years, she volunteered and cooked at the annual Adamstown Days. Goldie worked at the Bollman Hat Co. for 40 years, beginning in the cafeteria and then as a bow maker. Goldie was an important resource in the writing of the ‘History of Adamstown’ book; as a lifetime resident of Adamstown, she had great knowledge of the people and businesses there. She had a passion for cooking, reading, friendly conversation, and yard-sales. Like many of her generation, she had a strong work ethic and was always willing to help.

Goldie is survived by two sons, Barry L. Tothero (Gail) of Reamstown and David A. Tothero of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Brian Tothero (Helen), Rebecca Tothero; and a great granddaughter, Lily Tothero.

Services are private. Goldie’s final resting place is in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Adamstown.
