J. Clair High, 90, of Stevens, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Levi and Katie (Good) High and was the husband of the late Shirley Ann (Weaver) High.

Clair was a lifetime member of Blainsport Mennonite Church. He was involved with the egg industry for 76 years. He was still buying, selling, and hand delivering eggs several days a week.

He enjoyed softball, baseball, golf, bowling, and playing cards. Family was very important to him.

He is survived by five sons, Gary L., husband of Cecelia (Leed) High of Elizabethtown, Jay L., husband of Star (Moser) High of Port St. Lucie, FL, Kevin L., husband of Holly (Dillman) High of Denver, Curtis L., husband of Joan (Higgins) High of Stevens, Darrell L., husband of Cindy (Werner) High of Cornwall; a daughter-in-law, Connie (Becker) High of Reinholds; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Fred, husband of Candy High of Denver, Dale High of Gordonville and June Horst of Clay.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Dennis L. High, Lori Sue High, Clair L. High; 3 siblings, Leon High, Donnie High and Kathy Good.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 5 to 8 pm, at Blainsport Mennonite Church, 85 S. Blainsport Road, Reinholds. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 10 to 11am, at the church, followed by his funeral service at 11am, with Pastor Eric Marshall officiating. Interment will take place in Blainsport Mennonite Cemetery.
