J. Paul Weaver, 97, formerly of Ephrata, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Landis Homes Retirement Community.
Paul was born on February 9, 1926, in Ephrata, PA to the late Aaron W. and Lydia A. (Zimmerman) Weaver and was the husband of the late Nora M. (Sensenig) Weaver who passed away in 2016.
Paul was a member of Alive Church, formerly Ephrata Mennonite Church. Ephrata was home to Paul, farming on the family farm where he was born and raised and where he raised his own family. His farming including raising beef, pork, and chickens. Paul was one of the founding fathers with a vision for Woodcrest Retreat in Ephrata.
He enjoyed attending local auctions while catching up with people but was always on the lookout for a treasure he could enjoy. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They always brought a smile to his face and a twinkle in his eyes. Paul enjoyed friendly teasing with family and friends. He had a quick wit that stayed with him until the end often taking the nursing staff by surprise. He will truly be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Paul is survived by six children, James G., husband of Elaine (Shultz) of Ephrata, S. Marlene, wife of Mark N. Ulrich of Ephrata, John P., husband of Laura (Hart) of Ephrata, Janice M., wife of Lee Witmer of Denver, Clifford L., husband of Debra (Reigel) of Lititz, Clair N., husband of Gale (Youndt) of Ephrata; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois (Weaver) Weber, Ephrata; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wilmer and Jane Sensenig.
In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by a grandson, Garret Mitchel Weaver; a brother, Carl Z. Weaver, and an infant sister, Rhoda L. Weaver.
The family is very appreciative for the excellent care the staff in Cedar and Oregon Houses at Landis Homes gave to Paul in his final years.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 9:30 to 11 AM, at Alive Church, 510 Stevens Road, Ephrata, followed by his funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastors Jeff High and David Buch officiating. Interment will take place at Indiantown Mennonite Cemetery.
