Ralph M. Moyer, 80, of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Maple Farm Retirement Community.

He was born in Stevens to the late Charles and Mabel (Weaver) Moyer and was the husband of Joyce A. (Benard) Moyer, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Ralph was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ephrata. He was self-employed in commercial refrigeration. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Akron Lions Club, Retread Motorcycle Group and Lancaster Kellogg Retirees. Ralph was very supportive of his wife’s involvement in the community as she served on several boards and committees, he was always willing to jump in and lend a hand where needed. He loved his cats and dogs. Ralph played with many local sports teams and enjoyed supporting the Phillies and the Eagles.

Ralph and Joyce did not have children, but over the years participated in an exchange program and became close with the students they took into their home, Siv Jonson of Sweden, Tanya Hawkshaw of Australia, Anne Troesken of Germany, Alex Heidbrink of Germany, Tuomas Kukkonen and his brother Joonas Kukkonen, both of Finland.

The family would like to thank both Maple Farm and Hospice and Community Care for their excellent care of Ralph.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 1 PM at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 105 N. 11th Street, Akron.
